Education
is never complete within the four walls of class rooms.
One should develop the habit of using Libraries.
The college Library is computerised at present.
Adequate space has been created for students and staff of the
college in the library. The open access system is provided in
the library. Sufficient number of text books, reference books
and leading journals and periodicals are kept in the library.
Students can use the library from 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. At
present the number of books in the library is around 20,000.
Apart from this, in the year 1967 Prof. Bipin Krishna Ghosh
donated a valuable collection of books in the college library
named as ‘Bankim Chandra Ghosh’ collection. Dr.
Syamal Kumar Sengupta retired Reader in Bengali, donated a large
number of books on different subjects to the college library.
For enhancement of knowledge of the students, the periodicals
on different subjects displayed in the library are about 25
in number.
The caution money for the library is to be deposited at the
time of admission. Then, one should go to the library with the
fee book (with two copies of photographs) get the name registered
and then two library cards; one for lending and another for
reading room purpose will be issued by the Librarian.
The open access system has been introduced from the session
2003-2004. The Central Library of our institutions has an open
access system which enables the students to get exposed to a
wide range of books in their respective areas. In addition,
to this we also have departmental libraries.
Also Departmental library has been set up from the session 2005-2006.
The old Book Bank has been re-opened. Thus the college provides
three categories of Libraries viz. (i) Central Library, (ii)
Book Bank and (iii) Departmental Library. Students should remember
that books and Journals are sacred properties, belonging to
all. Any damage caused to the books and periodicals would be
taken as a serious offence leading to severe disciplinary action
against the offender.
The institution also publishes an annual News Letter
in which is narrated in a brief manner the happenings of the
college round the year.
